Lee County Public Schools is the ninth-largest district in Florida and America's 33rd-largest school district - and one of the largest, fully-accredited school districts in the nation. We proudly educate approximately 87,000 students in grades K-12, with thousands more adult learners.  Lee County Public Schools is the ninth-largest district in Florida and America's 33rd-largest school district - and one of the largest, fully-accredited school districts in the nation.  We are one of the county’s largest employers, with approximately 12,000 full- and part-time employees.

On May 18, 2015 The News-Press did an article about our local schools rankings.  The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college

Eight Lee County schools and six Collier County Schools received gold, silver or bronze medals in the U.S. News Best High School rankings.

Lee County schools listed (with state ranking in parenthesis), included Fort Myers High School (51st), Cape Coral High School (77th), Mariner High School (102nd), North Fort Myers High School(116th), Riverdale High School (134th), Ida S. Baker High School (136th), Edison Collegiate High and Lee County Virtual Franchise.

Collier County schools listed (with ranking in parenthesis), included Barron Collier High School 36th), Naples High School (64th), Gulf Coast High School (72nd), Golden Gate High School (109th), Palmetto Ridge High School (112th), and Lorenzo Walker Technical High School (128th).
